Here I am again with another lovely interview for you. It has been a few weeks since I last posted one, but I couldn’t be happier to start it off again with a bang.
Meet Jessica Kali, she is a women’s empowerment coach and soul mentor from Sydney, Australia. She is 27 years old (I believe almost 28 now, since she told me she is a Sagittarius). She is young but a very wise soul. I have found myself nodding through her answers and I have so connected to all she has to say and her message.
Feeling lost, disconnect and insecure is something that most of us will experience at some stage in our lives, but to see Jess find her grove and turn her life around at such a young age after loosing her father is utterly inspiring.
Thank you Jess for putting your beautiful energy into this. I am sure you will inspire many and your work in this world is amazing and so needed. Here is to what is to come for you in this amazing journey called life. Your openness and wise soul will take you far.
Much love to you and to you who is reading and about to be inspired by Jess.
Tell me a bit about your journey, the difficulties and bumps you have encountered along the way?
I feel the real changes in my life began just under 3 years ago. Due to years of trying to fit in, denying my truth and conforming to the person I thought I had to be, I reached the lowest point in my life.
I had become so disconnected and insecure that my day to day reality had transformed into a constant state of worry, anxiety and deep sadness. Having lost my father 4 years earlier, at the time I felt I had no right to feel the way I did. I had already grieved his loss and this sadness seemed somewhat unrelated.
I believe during this time I experienced what some refer to as the dark night of the soul. It was definitely a gradual process that saw me end up here. I never saw it coming and at first didn’t even realise how painful that period of my life was for me. However now having something to compare it to, I can see that I was incredibly lost. I felt so disconnected, I really had no idea who I was anymore.
What was your aha moment? What pushed you towards taking action and taking steps towards change?
I don’t think I really had an aha moment that pushed me towards action in the first place. It was just a deep unhappiness with the path my life was starting to travel down that intuitively guided me to seek out something more.
A pivotal moment for me was when I stumbled across the work of transformational life coach Connie Chapman. I signed up for an online program she was running at the time; 6 weeks into the work I experienced my awakening.
For about 3 days during this period, I experienced severely unconscious behaviour and plummeted into a seriously nasty head space. On the third day I realised what had happened and that was really the last time I allowed it to ever get that bad again.
Describe yourself before your journey of transformation/awakening.
Where to begin… I am in no way the same women that I was going into my awakening!
I think it’s quite common for people to go through massive external life changes when they experience ground-breaking internal shifts. The same can be said for me.
Before my awakening I was disconnected, lonely, insecure, stressed, anxious, unhappy, fearful and unfulfilled.
In the years that followed I have transformed into a someone who is above all at peace with life. I don’t sweat the small stuff, I’m not afraid to take risks and follow my heart, and I express my truth vulnerably in order to connect more deeply with others. I have reconnected with my emotions, feelings, body and soul, and I don’t take anything for granted now. Above all I feel so incredibly on purpose with my work, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life!
Do you feel anything in particular contributed to your journey? (Anything pushed you towards your struggles, bumps and traumas?)
Definitely, there were a few notable circumstances that all piled up to create a deep sense of unhappiness in my life just before my awakening.
Due to financial reasons I had lost my independence and was living with my ex partners family at the time. Although they were incredibly loving and supportive I was constantly surrounded by people and was unable to experience the solitude I often crave at times.
My ex and I were also experiencing difficulties that were deeply upsetting to me. We were both playing out unconscious patterns that were triggering each other like crazy and were slowly pushing us apart. Intuitively I could tell that we shared a soul mate connection, and at the time given my own existing beliefs around relationships and love, I held on for far longer than I really should have.
To top it off I had lost my passion for my work and was stuck in a full time 9-5 position that was draining me energetically. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted so desperately to create a freedom based life, working on projects that really mattered to me. I couldn’t have felt farther from it in this role.
What has been the most significant change in your life?
It’s hard to say what has been the most significant as I have been dedicating my life to spiritual and personal development since my awakening. The evolution of the soul and the changes I experience are now a constant in my life (and I wouldn’t have it any other way!). I would have to say the period of time around my awakening was probably the most significant of them all though, as this was the moment when my life started moving in a completely new direction.
Looking back, do you now understand that the difficulties you went through were a part of your journey? And if so, what have you discovered about yourself through going through your experiences? What is the most important thing you have learned about yourself?
God yes! Every single thing we encounter during our life experience has a place and purpose in our larger soul journey. I think the most important thing I have discovered through these experiences, is learning that our darkest and most challenging moments in life often possess the greatest opportunity for personal growth and healing.
I won’t ask you what advice you would like to have given your younger self because I know your younger self wouldn’t have listened. But what do you wish you knew back then?
I wish that I had known that I didn’t need to do anything or be anyone to be worthy of love. I’m not afraid to admit I am in love with the idea of love. I value intimate, soulful and loving connections above everything else in this world, and unfortunately in my younger years I compromised who I was in the hope of gaining this from others.
I’ve since realised that love is my birthright. That even though co-creation through love with others is a beautiful thing, I don’t necessarily need another to experience love. Love is a feeling, a state of being that we have the ability to open ourselves up to at any moment.
The moment I realised this was the moment I understood the concept of oneness. I stopped seeing love as a finite commodity and I started filling up my own love cup instead of relying on others to fill it up for me.
What has been your most important life lesson?
Learning to trust. Not only that the Universe has my back, but also on a much more personal level, in myself. Trust is what allows me to surrender to the flow of life, it provides me with the confidence to take risks based on my feelings, and enables me to embody a deeper sense of peace in my day to day life.
What was the main belief you had to change in your life in order for you to be able to move forward?
Ooh this is a tough one!
I think the main belief that had to change before I could move forward completely with my life, was the idea that life happens to you. It’s a touchy subject for some as many people don’t like to admit that they are stuck in victim mode, but essentially if you are not taking responsibility for your life you become a passive participant.
It’s true that we cannot control all the experiences that enter our reality. However we possess the power to choose how we react or respond to these experiences. By taking ownership of our choices in these moments we have the ability to regain our power in the situation.
As soon as I became aware of this, I realised that I had a lot more power over my reality than I had been giving myself credit for. I could consciously choose the direction of any situation based on how I responded to it. This helped me break through quite a few fear based barriers that I had constructed, especially present in my intimate relationships.
If you were to give an advice to someone who is feeling lost, hopeless and struggling in life right now, what would it be?
It takes darkness to know light. Our lives are full of duality for the simple reason that we cannot fully understand and appreciate a state of being without a deep understanding of the opposite state. We must experience what we don’t want to gain a better understanding and cultivate a stronger desire for what we do want.
Three words to describe yourself now?
Free, Embodied, Priestess.
What is the funniest thing you have ever done or your most embarrassing moment?
I always do silly things so it’s hard to remember a particular moment! I’m a little clumsy and tend to walk into and trip over things a lot. Fortunately though I love to laugh at myself, so the moments usually end up bringing joy to my life instead of embarrassment.
What is your most heartfelt belief in life? Share your message with the world! What are you most passionate about?
My most heartfelt belief is that life is meant for living! We spend so much of our lives worrying about what we should/shouldn’t be doing and who we need to please. We miss out of so many opportunities to really just experience the blessing of this evolutionary experience that is life.
Life is meant to be fun, it’s a constant adventure of self discovery. There is so much beauty and joy available to us in every moment, yet so many of us remain blind to it. We have forgotten who we are and what is truly important to us. We have forgotten what brings us happiness.
I honestly believe that true happiness can only be achieved when we are living a completely aligned and authentic life. Because it is through honouring and expressing our truth that we can come into greatest connection with ourselves and others, and in fact the whole Universe.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I’d love to share with you a favourite quote of mine, that I think perfectly sums up the essence of emotional and energetic healing work – something I am so incredibly passionate about.
“That which is denied cannot be healed.” – Brennan Manning
I feel this really hits the nail on the head, as so much can be healed through the simple act of awareness and acceptance. We love to over complicated and control things, but the greatest healing often comes when we start to truly see things for what they are. Profound shifts happen when this takes place!
Through a combination of life coaching, spiritual mentoring and chakra work, Jess works in a highly practical way, empowering women to heal themselves through the process of emotional alchemy and energetic alignment.
Through her guidance she helps women journey home to a place of harmony within their body, energy and life, so they may ultimately realise their divine truth and absolute power as a woman.
