Finding peace with your past can hold a true key to a life of freedom and fun. The more you let go, the more you can bring in.
You are the one and only expert in finding a life that feels right for you, but here are some steps that have guided me towards a life of peace. This is how you can find peace with your past and create a life you love.
Use you past difficulties as lessons and not as reasons to drag yourself down.
What was positive from that situation?
What did I learn from it?
Or how can I learn something from it?
Don’t be attached to your story, your lessons are much more valuable than the story behind it.
Learn to forgive – connect to where that person is/was coming from.
Have them being hurt themselves?
Do they need love?
Did they mean to hurt you or were them being driven by their own wounds?
Sure enough, sometimes it takes time and it’s hard, but when it no longer serves you purpose, know it’s time to let go so that you can be free from a negative situation.
Forgiving doesn’t mean accepting the continuous hurtful behaviour.
Forgiving is freeing yourself from the story and the pain, it’s knowing that you come first, and if that person hasn’t yet reached a level where they learn how to respect and treat you as you deserve, you don’t have to put up with it.
You can choose to let them go so that they can reach their own destination at their own pace. Remember it is your journey, and yes sometimes people need love and support, but that shouldn’t cost your own peace and happiness.
Know how to say no, how to identify what supports you and what drains you.
Your energy is worth gold, and if bit by bit you can identify what is sucking it out, you will be one step closer to finding peace in your life.
What Am I tolerating right now? (It can be a situation, a particular activity, a job or it could be someone in your life).
How can I move away from this situation and feel at peace with myself?
How could I use my energy in a positive way?
Find things to do that makes you excited.
What would I really love to be doing right now?
How can I do that?
Or how can I bring that into my life on a regular basis?
It can be as simple as having an ice cream, listening to music, reading a book or, it could be as big as going on an adventure, throwing everything up and taking a plunge to fulfil your heart’s desire.
Get in touch with your heart!
Make the space to listen to yourself. I cannot tell you how transformative this can be!
Learn to meditate.
Do some journaling.
Buy some oracle cards.
Sit with yourself and ask…
What do I need right now?
Your heart holds so much truth and wisdom, find a practice that allows you to connect to it on a regular basis.
Do more of what you love and less of what you hate.
It doesn’t happen overnight, we create habits of doing things that does not support us, mainly because we feel we should be doing this or that.
If you slowly open up to what it is that brings you down, by bringing awareness to it, you will be one step closer to changing it all around.
Learn to accept your quirks!
You are you!
You are human and you have emotions. You will have good days, bad days, happy days, sad days, grumpy days and calm days. It’s all apart of who you are.
Learn to embrace your bad days, they will hold valuable lessons and help you value the good days for what they are.
Learn to allow yourself to be sad, hold the space for it.
You are human and you were born with emotions, if you try to control them, they will control you.
Cherish happy moments!
They hold the key to guiding you to a life that feels good in your heart.
Ask yourself …
What is it about this moment that makes me so happy? (Find more ways of implementing that into your life).
Life is not about being happy all the time. It’s about accepting all that is to you. Accepting who you are. Finding love for who you are and spreading that around.
A full heart can give soulfully, an empty heart just wishes to give what it doesn’t have.
Go fill your heart up with some soulful living and shine your light baby, you deserve it all!
